Be Accommodating
This strategy works when both parties are being cooperative. When one or both is accommodating, it is easier to negotiate. One pitfall of this strategy is when one party just wants to accommodate the other only to avoid conflict or to end the discussion. When that happens, it could lead to unresolved issues. This strategy is effective though if the discussion would just be put on pause and would be discussed again when both parties cooled off and are both more logical to discuss their differences.
Be Collaborating
If both parties are assertive but are still cooperative, the strategy of being collaborative would work. This is one effective strategy because both parties would end up having a richer experience after the discussion since their ideas are heard yet, they are open to the fact that their ideas could still be further improved if they would listen and collaborate. Although, there are instances when this strategy becomes advantageous especially when both parties felt like they have already aired their sentiments and are now willing to both listen.
Not all welcome disagreements because conflict could lead to feelings being hurt. Because of this, some avoid conflict altogether but this is still damaging since it would breed resentments. But when we know how to deal with conflict in a healthy and mature way, it encourages trust and a stronger bond.
